Cupcaking the Night Away
Those with sensitive teeth beware. CupcakeCamp, the frosted festival of bakery, rolls into Somerville for the third Boston encampment Monday, May 21 at 7 p.m. inside The Center for the Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave.). Offering samples of lip-dipping, cupcake creations from professional and amateur bakers makes it the Lollapalooza of sweetness. Anything in the imagination just may present itself in cupcake form. Bees as cupcakes; Teddy Bear cupcakes; cupcakes with lemon drops, liquorice, blackberries; chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes; cupcakes with a Homer Simpson likeness; who knows!
Bakeries from all around the Boston area will be represented: Cakeology, Cupcakory, JennaCakes, Mix Bakery, Sweet Cupcakes, Wicked Good Cupcakes, How Sweet It Is—to name only a few. Each professional baker will have tables of either 4 or 8 feet set up.
Cupcake Camp Boston runs 7—9 p.m. General admission is $5 at the door only. This year, for the first time, a special VIP Hour will run from 6—7 p.m. Those interested may purchase a VIP ticket for $25 and gain instant access to the brittle little fluffs of deliciousness and material goods from Whole Foods Market and The Great Boston Cupcake Crawl. When it’s over you can go home fat and slow with the overwhelming satisfaction that your money went to benefit Lovin’ Spoonfuls, a local hunger relief organization.
