Calendar Highlight – Boston Handmade Somerville Marketplace
Looking for the perfect quirky accessory to add to an outfit? New hand-crafted knick-knacks for empty shelf space? Some one-of-a-kind artwork to liven up your living room? then you should head over to Union Square tomorrow for the Boston Handmade Somerville Marketplace. From 3pm-7pm, the marketplace will feature work by New England artists, craftspeople and artisans associated with the juried arts group Boston Handmade. Boston Handmade “promotes local independent businesses and individuals creating one-of-a-kind and limited edition handmade works in small studio environments, not factories.”
And at the marketplace this year, they’ll promote local musicians, too: indie pop bands The Grownup Noise and One Happy Island will perform.
As part of my duties as intern for Somerville Scout I decided to do a little research on this year’s exhibitors…but as time went on I realized I’d stopped thinking about the Scout and started thinking of my potential purchases for tomorrow: bubble tea soap from Dirty Ass Soaps? an adorable headband from Pink Sequin Designs? Decisions decisions!
